The boat
Moja — Nautitech 395 · 2000
Watermaker
Yes
All electric, no Diesel on board, 6 crew, 2 kids (6 and 7 years old)
Provisioning
What we carried
We started low on water because we wouldn't run the watermaker in Mindelo and filled up on passage (we had enough emergency water bottles). More than enough food although fresh food started to run out before arriving.
Conditions
Weather at sea
Started rough for the first 4 days and then mostly light but still sailable winds.
After a few days, the rhytm sets in and we start living on the boat more than sailing.
Highlights
What made the passage
- After a few days, the rhythm sets in and life aboard becomes the focus
- Living on the boat more than actively sailing
Challenges
What tested the crew
- Very long passage duration
- Intermittent motivation problems caused by length
